STEMS is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) funded by the European Commission within its FP6 Programme under the thematic area "Life Sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health", contract number LHSB-CT-2006-037328.

STEMS aims to determine the extent and the limits of stem cell therapy in stroke in order to pave the way for clinical trials.
